I opened two of my Christmas presents this afternoon My dad bought me some gloves and Eeyore pjs in Sunderland today. I somehow managed to get a huge rip in the left arse cheek of my old pjs, and my nifty new gloves are fingerless and mittens. At the same time. Yeah. Go-go gadget mittens.
My voice and I would like to say ‘Hello’, since we’ve never introduced ourselves before, except to tell you you look like Alona Tal on Flickr a few months back. Don’t laugh, I know my accent is crap
Transcript: “Hello. Um, this is Helen, and I just thought i’d say ‘Hi’ and ‘Merry Christmas’ and… that’s about it really. So… Bye”
Helen: Hi! Just heard your message — your accent’s not crap at all — I quite like it actually! It reminds me of someone, but I can’t think who — will have to lsten to it a few more times methinks!
Just popped by to wish you a very Merry Christmas Claire. I can’t read your voice post because I’m at work (sshh ;)) — and because I don’t seem to have registered but swear I have before — but hopefully it’s all good and you’re planning on having plenty of fun. Best wishes for the New Year!
It was delightful listening to your voice blog, your accent is so refreshingly English. Here in Canada, everyone would shower you with compliments after hearing your accent(they love the English over here!)I used to have a snooty “public school-boy accent”…its now got a bit of “Norf London”( my best mate in England was from Enfield) and a smattering of Canadian…The most easily recognizable Canadian accent can be heard when they say “No doubt about it”.The Canadian version sounds like’No doot aboot it”…and they frequently end their sentence with an “Eh” I enjoy taking the piss out of my Canadian buddies accents:lol:
Thank you, I always get a bit self-conscious about my accent because it’s so strong and “Essix” (K listened to this post in particular and said she cringed at my accent )… Ah well, can’t please everyone, I suppose… My other voice posts include this one over here and this one over there.
“No doot aboot it”
I’m not very familiar with Canadian accents at all, so when reading that quote, it kind of sounds Scottish in my head, which is no doubt totally wrong!
