I recently made a prom­ise to myself that I would cut down on the Prince men­tions in my blog for fear of bor­ing you all to death. Well, that prom­ise has just been blown out of the water my friends.

His Royal Pur­ple­ness announced at a recent press con­fer­ence that he would be bring­ing his eagerly anti­cip­ated Earth Tour to Lon­don this sum­mer for a his­toric 21 nights.

The first dates to go pub­lic are 7 nights at the new o2 arena. For those of you that haven’t cottoned-on, this means that Prince Formerly Known As The Artist will be doing his purple thing at The White Ele­phant Formerly Known As The Mil­len­nium Dome. You couldn’t make it up if you tried. Tick­ets go on gen­eral sale tomor­row morn­ing, but I man­aged to snag pri­or­ity tick­ets that went on sale this morn­ing. Because you know, I’m that hardcore.

I never thought that this day would come; that Prince would tour out­side the US again. When plans were made for his res­id­ency in Las Vegas last year, I assumed that 3121 Club would be the venue in which he’d see out his “retire­ment”. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t thing that Prince would ever give up music, I would always like to think that as long as that man has breath in his body, he’ll be cre­at­ing in one form or another.

At the same time, I accep­ted that the sheer volume of his work rate over the past 3 dec­ades would no doubt be tak­ing its toll on him at this stage in his life/career and that at 22, I’d simply “missed the boat” in many ways, hav­ing not even been alive when the first strains of Purple Rain rever­ber­ated abound in pop­u­lar con­cious­ness. Per­haps it was time to let the fans come to him after hav­ing spent count­less months, years trav­el­ling from con­tin­ent to con­tin­ent to the home towns of his most impas­sioned supporters?

At any rate, in true Prince style he’s decided to change his tune yet again and will be gra­cing us Brits with his pres­ence. Remin­is­cent of the arrange­ment dur­ing the US Musi­co­logy tour, ticket prices will also include a brand new CD!

This post nowhere near describes how I feel, the words have dried up and been replaced with happy tears.
