A full-time wheelchair user since 1998, Claire lives in an adapted bungalow in England with her Partner of 10 years and their two dogs: Ziggy, a 4 year old ex-racing Greyhound, and Hector, a 1 year old Whippet.

I have the typical American accent — the one you normally hear in movies and stuff, with a slight twinge of Southernness. I grew up in a very urban area in the South where the accent isn’t as strong as some other places.

It’s weird to have people say they like my accent as here in England, my regional accent/dialect is viewed as one of the less desirable ones, to say the least! 
Ooh, you have me curious now, where are you from then? (I know this is silly, but I automatically assume my readers are from the UK unless their (Americanised) spelling suggests otherwise).
Don’t you just find it kind of weird that people could possibly find our accents hard to understand though? Mine is Kent/Saaaaaffff East Lahndahn, so has certain similarities to yours, desirable or not

I’m from the UK, just somewhat further away. I often find other UK accents more difficult to understand than overseas…
