This week’s Macro Day Challenge: Black and White
This is Jack Skellington from the Tim Burton film, The Nightmare Before Christmas (TNBC).
The Nightmare Before Christmas is one of my all-time favourite films and one that I remember watching most years as it formed my childhood staple TV-diet in the run-up to Christmas (along with The Muppet Christmas Carol and Disney Sing Along Songs: Very Merry Christmas). Not only are the songs and characters wonderful, but even after all these years, the film continues to be the most stunning piece of Stop-Motion animation I have ever had the joy of watching. I continue to be completely enchanted by even the most basic forms of Stop-Motion animation; seeing inanimate, tangible objects literally being brought to life by photography never fails to fill me with the giddy, child-like wonder I felt when I watched my Grandad walk up and shake Mickey Mouse’s hand at Disney World when I was 5 years old.
I have collected TNBC memorabilia for several years now and as of last Christmas, completed my collection of Limited Edition NECA resin figurines.
Jack was one of the first in my collection and seeings as I’ve been meaning to take “proper” photos of my figures since forever, it only seemed right that he should be the one to mark their debut.
(P.S. I have a spare mint, boxed, sealed “Corpse Family” set of NECA TNBC figures that I’m willing to flog at a decent price, if anyone is interested…)

Said it on Flickr, but my boy would kill for this.
NBC is also one of my favourite all-timers (hence S’s obsession — surely it’s in his blood?). It’s doubly special because M took me to the cinema to see it on what was one of first dates.

I recognised him straight away.
Oooh very purdy
Never been a fan of the movie — HA! — but love the picture
You should start doing wallpapers
That is disturbingly awesome. The white background really gives it an edge (don’t bother asking me to translate that to technical speak, because I can’t).
Although saying that, I think you should take another pic of it on a black/dark background, just to give it some contrast.
*You looking at me?!*
Vixx: What a great “first” date! I would’ve loved to have seen NBC at the cinema!
Dan:
Hmm… that’s not a bad idea…
Teesee: RE: the black background — your views have been heard — I’m currently working on alternative backgrounds for my light tent, so watch this space.
I love TNBC! It’s one of my all-time favorites too. I’ve watched it most years of my life as well, but for me it was always during the lead-up to Halloween rather than Christmas. I don’t know if this has been done in England, but for the past couple of years in the States TNBC has been re-released in 3D in cinemas. I went both last year and the year before and it was really nice to experience it on the big screen.
(This reply is a bit late, whoops!)
Alyssa:
The 3D version did come to England one year, but only to about half a dozen cinemas country-wide, so we never got to see it. If it ever come around again, we’ll no doubt go
