Meet my new mate, Dave.

We met Dave the other week at Colchester Zoo where he gave us tips on eco-friendly interior design in exchange for bits of tuna and sweetcorn sandwich. He can also jump up and down like a Jack Russell Terrier when you hold food above his head.

One of the above statements is surprisingly true, whilst the other is a complete work of fiction. You decide.

I like Dave. I also like blogging, but have been hideously absent due to K deciding to remain rather poorly, getting signed off work for over 2 months and needing the odd bit of surgery, which now may or may not have resulted in a spot of post-operative infection. Fun times.

Amidst all that, K was a birthday girl, which meant we got to go the the zoo for fun, picnics and animal pictures. And, I got to try out the new compact camera I bought in February.

It feels good to be back. Must now go and mop the patient’s brow.

Hmmm… my guess is that the jumping thing is true, because it sounds crazy. The photos are lovely, and the composition of the rabbit with lighting looks great!

That sounds like a nasty illness, I hope she gets better soon! =)

  • Hope K gets better soon. I like the penguins at Colchester Zoo :bounces:

We have baby chicks in school at the moment. 12 eggs arrived in their incubator on tuesday afternoon and by this morning (thurs) the final last two hatched. We have one who is quite weak, he made a hole in his egg yesterday morning, but was the last to hatch out. He’s all bedraggled and keeps getting stuck on his back :eh:

  • Charlie: Got it in one! The jumping thing was/is hilariously true! ;) The rabbit photo was for my sister (who is obsessed with all things bunny) — I was glad I managed to get a good shot as there were bundles of bunnies in this shed like thing and for a while they were just all piled on top of one another en masse. :eh:

Imo: The chicks sound adorable — especially the little gimpy one! :giggle: How’s it getting on now? Are all 12 still alive and kicking?

  • Welcome back — we (I) missed your blog entries. Absolutely love your photos. It’s been a while since I’ve been to a zoo but your pics make me want to visit one this summer. The rabbit photo is adorable. It looks like a couple of marshmallows stacked on top of each other.

Hope K is feeling better soon — look after each other.

  • Wow! I want that duck! He looks rather spiffy! I hope K get’s well soon! :)

  • That third picture? The one of the two primates? GAH. ADORABLE. How’d you get that close? The animals in my zoo are encased in glass and surrounded by this hideous metal fence. It makes me think of a mental asylum.

    I hope K gets better! ;D
